Honey Mustard Salmon

The most delicious honey mustard salmon you will ever have! It’s packed with flavor, thanks to a quick sauce you whip up in seconds and it only needs to cook under the broiler for 10 minutes!

I’m so excited about this recipe because it is literally the best salmon I’ve ever made! I tried out a couple of other baked honey mustard salmon recipes and was a little disappointed. I took matters into my own hands and came up with my own recipe and have struck gold. The flavor is amazing. The ingredients are simple. And it only takes 10 minutes to cook under the broiler.

Ingredient notes

The simple honey mustard sauce calls for dijon mustard, honey, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika and oil. I throw in some sliced green onion too which is a lovely touch but can be optional if you like.

How to make it

This recipe really can’t be much simpler. All you need to do is whisk up the honey mustard sauce ingredients and spread it over each salmon filet. Broil for 10 minutes and dinner is ready my friend.

Recipe tips, substitutions & storage

Salmon: with any meat, quality makes a difference. I really prefer fresh over frozen, mostly for texture. I find frozen seems to be less tender no matter what I do. You also really want to take care not to overcook the salmon. Although my meat thermometer guide says an internal temp of 145F for fish means done, salmon will end up overcooked if you let it stay in the oven till then. It will continue to cook even after you remove it from the oven so remove it around 135F for the best texture.

Green onions: I really love the little touch of flavor flair this adds, but you can leave it out and still have some really delicious honey mustard salmon.

Although this is best eaten fresh, leftovers can be stored in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.

Ingredients

Units Scale

  • 1 lb fresh salmon filet
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 1/2 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • couple pinches of black pepper
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced (about 1 tbsp)

Instructions

  1. Preheat broiler.
  2. Place salmon on a large baking sheet, lined with parchment paper.
  3. Whisk remaining ingredients together in a small bowl until smooth.
  4. Spread honey mustard sauce over the top of the salmon.
  5. Broil for 10 minutes. Its best if the salmon is slightly rare when you take it out of the oven, let it rest for about 5 minutes and it will finish cooking.
  6. I suggest serving with rice and roasted veggies. Enjoy!
