Instructions

  1. Place sugar, water and vanilla extract in a small pot. 
  2. Use a knife to gently cut down the center of each vanilla bean pod without cutting all the way through. Separate the two sides so you can run the knife down the center to scrape out the vanilla beans. Scrape the vanilla beans into the pot and add the whole pods when finished. vanilla bean pod being scraped with a knife
  3. Heat over medium heat until boiling and sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and allow syrup to cool. vanilla bean syrup cooking process
  4. Transfer to a glass bottle and store in the fridge for up to two weeks. 

Notes

You can pour the finished syrup through a fine mesh strainer to encourage vanilla beans to disperse throughout the syrup
