Cranberry sauce was never a Thanksgiving must for me until recently. But now the meal feels incomplete without that bitter/sour/sweet flavor to compliment all the rich savory food. I make mine with orange and cinnamon–these flavors go perfectly with cranberries!

Ingredients

cranberry sauce ingredients
  • Fresh cranberries
  • Sugar
  • Orange zest and juice
  • Ground cinnamon

How to make it

Place cranberries, orange juice/zest, sugar and cinnamon in a pot on the stove over medium heat.

Cook until cranberries begin to burst and sugar dissolves, allow to simmer a few additional minutes. Then use a large wooden spoon to break up some of the cranberries a bit more.

Transfer the sauce to serving dish and allow to cool before serving. This is perfect for making a day or two ahead!
